The development of new products that would increase fertilizer usage efficiency and crop yield, on the other hand that does not pollute the environment, are challenges for agronomists and soil chemists throughout the world.
AGRO-CLINO has properties that could influence the production of agronomic and horticultural crops. This mineral improves the soils structure by coupling high ion exchange capacity with a selective affinity for ammonium and potassium. Its selectivity for large ions makes it a potential carrier for plant nutrients, which are to be released slowly for continuous uptake by plants. Based upon its high ion-exchange capacity and water retention capacity, it has been used extensively as soil conditioner, to improve and reduce N-leaching from soils, and to neutralize low pH soils. AGRO-CLINO contains no toxic and synthetic material. It is also reported that some of the elements such as potassium (K), calcium (Ca), sodium Na, and phosphate (P) can be exchanged from soils by AGRO-CLINO addition along with fertilizers there by preventing their movement from the soil to the food chain.
Based upon their ion exchange, adsorption and hydration properties, AGRO-CLINO has a potential use as a soil amendment and as a slow-release fertilizer. The retention of NH4+ in structural channels of the mineral may prevent its oxidation to NO3- by nitrifying bacteria and can help to reduce leaching losses of ammonium-type fertilizer. Applying excessive amounts of fertilizer produces some sodicity problems and AGRO-CLINO regulates the pH of the soil and balances the acidity of the soil.
In general, by using AGRO-CLINO, % 20-40 increase in yield is obtained and maturing period is completed 2-14 days earlier and also underground water is protected from contamination of the fertilizer. Grow responses to the AGRO-CLINO with regard to seedling and root development (healthy and numerous root). In planting of the trees, AGRO-CLINO increases the efficiency of fertilizer and water by providing a perfect root media.
